Tribunal of the Revd Melvin Booysen [updated]

A tribunal of the Diocese of Cape Town set up to hear charges against the Revd Melvin Booysen is scheduled to begin hearings on Monday June 28 at 9.30 am.

The tribunal arises out of allegations made by the Revd June Major.

The Canons mandate that the proceedings of tribunals take place in public. However, since under Covid-19 regulations there can be no physical access to the venue by the public, the proceedings can be followed on YouTube at the following address:

Dear President Lee,
Kindly ADHERE to REVISED government COVID regulation from 100 to 50 for indoor PUBLIC gatherings for this hearing and so COMPLY with the Canon’s MANDATE

Our mother Church, the cathedral is by now ADEPT in COVID protocol observance as a favourite place of public gatherings.

Thanking you.

Tribunal proceeding in darkness at the Cathedral as You Tube video unavailable deemed a private matter. How can darkness drive out darkness?

We have asked the Diocese, which arranged the feed, to investigate. We too have found that it is marked Private.

Is there a reason why the video is private? The rubric says that these are public proceedings. And the public, due to Covid restrictions, can only be present via video.

Dear President Lee,
Kindly lift the You Tube embargo AS you NOW are presiding
over proceedings ab initio null and void.

Why is the live feed on Rev June’s tribunal now private. And unavailable to the public?
It was supposed to be live on YouTube this morning
