New Worship Resource Manual

Worship Resource Manual - A4 file format

@ R90 + R19.30postage

(Available from Publishing Committee office, P O Box 61394, Marshalltown 2107  See Order link for details.)

A manual of new liturgical material produced by the Liturgical Committee for parish use.

Bishop Merwyn Castle, Chair of the Liturgical Committee writes about the Resource Manual:

' It gives me great pleasure to commend this Worship Resource Manual to the Church and to all those responsible for the planning and celebration of the liturgies of the Church in our congregations.

The resources provided are meant to supplement and enrich the Daily Offices, the Eucharistic rite and the occasional services in An Anglican Prayer Book. Published in 1989, and although providing for flexibility and creativity, our present Prayer Book has its limitations and is rather dated in the light of ongoing liturgical study and renewal.

The Synod of Bishops, rather than commissioning a complete new Prayer Book, as has happened in the Church of England with Common Worship, is going the route of providing an array of different resource material. It has authorized for example the use of an English Inclusive Language Psalter, the Season of Creation and AIDS Awareness liturgies, the use of the new Revised Lectionary and numerous optional services for use in parish life.

This Worship Resource Manual is meant to be a living document - to be added to regularly and it is hoped will encourage aspiring writers of liturgical material to contribute material particularly in the eleven languages used in our Province.  Already we have begun to prepare translations of the Manual.

We hope that every congregation in our twenty-six Dioceses and every priest and deacon of our Southern African Province will enjoy using this Resource Manual as we offer our regular acts of praise and thanksgiving to our loving God.'
